O.F.A. and PennHIP Exams
Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) and PennHIP (Pennsylvania Hip Improvement Program) are two protocols used to assess hip joint health and screen for hip dysplasia in dogs and, to a lesser extent, in cats. Both methods aim to provide breeders and veterinarians with important information to help improve the quality of the breeding population and reduce the occurrence of hip dysplasia, a genetic condition that can lead to arthritis and pain.
