CVETS is excited to announce that our new Criticalist, Dr. Rachel Pabón DVM, DACVECC, will be arriving on October 26th! Dr. Pabón is the only board-certified Criticalist in the Columbia area, so we are very grateful to have her. A Veterinary Criticalist is someone who specializes in life-threatening cases that may arise from trauma or illness. Having a Criticalist will help further elevate the level of emergency care that we provide at CVETS. Keep reading to learn about her background in Veterinary Medicine!
About Dr. Rachel Pabón
Dr. Rachel Pabón grew up riding horses on a small hobby farm in the Midwest. She obtained her Veterinary Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2014. Shortly after, she completed a one-year small animal rotating internship at a large private practice hospital in Atlanta. She followed that by completing a three-year residency in Emergency and Critical Care in Southeast Wisconsin by 2018.
Her Time in the UK
For the past two years, Dr. Pabón has practiced as a Criticalist in Manchester England! In England, she spent her free time sightseeing, hiking, and improving her riding skills. Dr. Pabón is so excited to be returning to the United States this fall to help further develop the Critical Care Department at CVETS. Dr. Pabón’s medical interests include: polytrauma, toxicities, transfusion therapy, shock and sepsis, as well as the critical care support of the emergent neurologic patient. She is also passionate about appropriate palliative end of life care for all animals.
